This is the video presentation of “Liceo Artistico Ferruccio Mengaroni” Pesaro. Our school is placed into two building. In one building we follow arts-subjects (only theory), in the other one we really practice arts-subjects, that are divided into Graphis, Design, Fashion design, Architecture and Fittings, Films movie and Culture Properties. Pesaro is a seaside city on the Adriatic sea, infact, in this video you can see its beach and sea. In the video there’s also Pomodoro’s “sfera”, the sculpture of a famous artist from Pesaro. This video is made by the students that take part to the Comenius’ project and they will go to the learning trip in Ostend and Marseille,
Many regards from Italy, we will wait for you soon!

Jewish students of our school commemorated after more than 60 years...

Friday evening the 6th of May six names of Jewish students of our Atheneum were put on a memorial plate in our school. They ended their lives in the concentration camp of Auschwitz during the Second World War, after they had been deported by Flemish and German fascists. Now their names have been put on the plate, together with the names of other victims (soldiers, camp-prisoners and resistance-fighters). It was never known why the Jewish students had to wait more than 60 years to have their names on the memorial plate. But now justice has been done. Herman Schindler (born on 06/11/1921); Albert Schindler (06/07/1925); Joachim Speier-Holstein (05/01/1926); Simone Schendorf (03/07/1927); Henriette Szpiro (06/05/1928); Regina Szpiro (16/11/1926)... will never be forgotten again.

On Friday our students of the third grade visited remnants of the 2nd World War in Ostend; other students went to the cinema to see the movie The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. In the afternoon three camp-survivors of the Second World War were invited at school to witness about the horror of the Teutonian barbarism in our country during World War II. One of them was a girlfriend of one of the Jewish deported students.

A NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM

This is our performance at the Civic Museums to celebrate the unity of Italy. The actors are all students who represent the “fathers” of Italy: Mazzini, Cavour, Garibaldi, Anita Garibaldi, Cristina di Belgiojoso, and Sara Levi Nathan. This show represents a normal chat among important people. In fact Doctor F., the interviewer, asks some questions about the protagonists' life, not about their heroic enterprises.

The amazing costumes were made by the fashion department of our school. I was Cristina di Belgiojoso. It was so funny to play this role. The project was directed by Mrs. De Negri and Mrs. Raspugli, who are both Italian language teachers. After the show, we sang the traditional songs of  unity. The show was successful!

And finally, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ITALY!!!

A LITTLE UPDATE FROM MENGARONI

A little update on our work

On 14 February some of us students participating in the Comenius project gathered in the school auditorium for a meeting with teachers Marco Altea and Stefania Antonioni.

Our teachers first presented an overall picture on the theme of landscape with historical and bibliographical references.

We also discussed the content of a video with interviews taken from TV news and talk shows.Together with the teachers we are  preparing  a report which we would like to post in the blog to ask ourcolleagues” to join the discussion. We also know which artists have accepted our invitation to collaborate with us, interacting with their works on the landscape. We are divided into groups, each of which must personally contact an artist and propose  him an interview or  conversation that later will be  posted in the blog. One of these artists, photographer Cicconi Massi, will soon be at our school to talk to us and the students of the graphics section.

Open letter to everyone : What’s up with our project ?
As you know, we’re setting up an art exhibition about the topic :
« Art in Europe : a melting pot of plural identities »
How did we start this THING ?

First , we visited several art places showing contemporary art.
There are two famous places near our school :la friche de la belle de
mai and le FRAC. The Friche is an ex- factory of tobacco and
matches transformed into a contemporary art center , it’s just round
the corner but very few students knew about it !
The FRAC is a collection of regional and international works of
contemporary art.
First, we were a bit lost in this new unknown world especially if you
don’t understand what the artists mean with their works!
But then, little by little , we visited many exhibitions with the help of
specialists and we found out that contemporary art can be fun !

Uniurb – 28 gennaio Conference by Salvatore Settis

Friday, January 28 at 11am in the Throne Room of the Palazzo Ducale in Urbino, Salvatore Settis, from the Scuola Normale in  Pisa, held a conference entitled "Protection of cultural heritage and national identity".
The event is part of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of Italy’s unification,  under the patronage of the Superintendency for the Historic, Artistic and Ethno-anthropological Heritage of the Marche region.

We have reflected and discussed upon the topic of landscape with the contribution of interventions  by Salvatore Settis.

Salvatore Settis, archaeologist and art historian, since 1985 professor of classical archeology and art history at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, for eleven years, he was also Director, a position he left last October, at the beginning of the new academic year. Also controversial was the resignation in February 2009 from the Higher Council for Cultural Heritage and Landscape at the Ministry of Culture Heritage, where he had been President since 2006.

In the tv programme “Che tempo che fa” he presented his latest book “Landscape- Constitution Cement - The battle for the environment against degradation”.

The topic of landscape is of great interest at the moment and  the subject is producing a lot of  literature.
The risk is that we are running to irreparably damage the land, and we could not leave to posterity what we have inherited.

"The space we live in is never 'neutral'. It was natural space, with its continuity and its disruption, until men started to impress their signs, turning it deeply to their likeness. The space of man (...) is the reflection and memory of history and society, indeed of history and society that have shaped it through the ages, that shape it today for tomorrow’s men and women".
(From Landscape Constitution cement, Salvatore Settis, Torino 2010)

The cement is covering an area overly large and not proportionate to the needs of man, only in Italy during the years 1995/2006 it  consumed an  area as large as Umbria (Istat).
The difference with the past is that our ancestors jealously guarded and moderately used it.
Speaking of our region, the landscape suggests with its shape the profile of its inhabitants who lived until a few decades ago in symbiosis with the earth. The sacral consideration with which they have given the crops a strict, linear, geometric shape, the correct location of any building in harmony with the environment reveals their essential, practical and efficient character.

The territory, and then the landscape, exactly mirrors the population that inhabits and transforms it. The modern civilization is more responsible for the alteration and transfiguration of the landscape than all previous eras, with the obvious result of having depleted the heritage  that
previous generations have left us.

From our point of view   it is important for  us, as students,  and our contemporaries to be aware  of environmental issues. As a consequence  we have thought of some initiatives that could suggest a reflection  and  by combining the matter with artists, environmental historians and scholars that have dealt with  this theme.

JEUNES CURATEURS COMENIUS 2011/2012

COMENIUS LA FRICHE ET LE FRAC AU LYCÉE

IDENTITÉS PLURIELLES
jeudi 27 janvier 2011

- groupe communication (contact presse, blog, mailing etc..)
